Bob Sansevere: A Q&A with Minnesota Vikings rookie running back Toby Gerhart
Vikings rookie running back Toby Gerhart took some tough licks, as well as some late hits and shoves, during training camp. On Thursday, he shoved back, tangling with defensive end Ray Edwards. Gerhart is out to fill the Chester Taylor, No. 2 running back role for the Vikings, and he didn’t hurt his chances any in Saturday night’s opening 28-7 exhibition victory over the St. Louis Rams. His 22-yard run was the longest and most impressive of the evening. OK, Adrian Peterson didn’t play for the Vikings and Steven Jackson stayed on the sidelines for the Rams, but it still was a nice run. I talked to Gerhart about the game and about his first few weeks in the NFL.
